Is Counseling / Psychotherapy right for you?
When considering if counseling might be right for your life, many factors should be considered. Counseling is not easily described in general statements. It varies depending on the personalities of the provider and client, and the particular issues you bring forth. There are many different methods used to deal with the concerns that you may face in your life. Counseling is not like a typical medical doctor visit. Instead, it calls for a very active effort on your part. In order for the therapy to be most successful, a client will have an important role to play in the process.
Since psychotherapy often involves discussing difficult aspects of your life, you may experience uncomfortable feelings like sadness, guilt, anger, frustration, loneliness and helplessness. At the same time, psychotherapy has proved to cause relief and a greater sense of happiness and settlement in ones life. Psychotherapy often leads to better relationships, solutions to specific problems, and significant reductions in feelings of anxiety.
Our first session will include an evaluation of your needs. I will be able to offer you some first impressions of what our work together would include. We will identify the issues and concerns that you have in order to find solutions and make necessary changes in your life. Since it will require your time and energy, it is important to choose the right therapist and a specific treatment plans for your needs.
I am happy to answer any questions or concerns by phone or email.
